Brian LaPelusa was recently recognized along with an elite group of Chicago-based contractors for their outstanding commitment to service. Below is an excerpt from an interview:

Serving the Chicago area since 1964, LaPelusa Home Improvement, Inc., is an independent family-owned and -operated award-winning remodeling company providing a full range of services. Whether you plan on building a room addition, remodeling a kitchen or replacing your windows, your project will be managed professionally from the initial meeting to the final detail. Both large and small jobs get the same personal attention, expert experience, best quality products, superior craftsmanship and impeccable reputation built on trust.

Q: When it comes to your work, what are you thankful for?

A: Every single day I am grateful to my dad for founding our company in the truly special way that only he could do. He built such a tangible, caring and human relationship with everyone he did business with. Dad was very family-oriented, and his legacy lives on in every aspect of our business.

Q: How do you define accountability?

A: It is an essential expectation. We not only accept responsibility for our actions and our communication, but treat it as an obligation. Accountability is a virtuous marketplace ethic that we hold dear company-wide, along with honesty.

Q: What is your personal creed or words you live by?

A: Sales is more about establishing a customer than about getting a signature.

Q: What is the most rewarding thing about your job?

A: The experience of knowing, as a matter of fact, that we have helped someone beyond their expectations.
